This game is not about intricate controls or complicated mechanics: your ship can only orbit one planet at a time and you can either speed up or slow down in order to avoid crashing into enemy ships orbiting the neighboring star body. Press up to accelerate and down to lower your speed – a single collision will result in certain death and you will have to start the level from the beginning.
Every stage in Star Battles challenges you with missions: make a number of loops around the current planet, collect certain bonuses or eliminate several enemies. The bonuses occasionally appear on the intersecting orbit and you have to time your loops carefully in order to collect them. The shield is used automatically (it’s basically an extra life) while the shot must be activated manually to destroy an aggressor.
