Exploder.io is an awesome arcade game in the tradition of Bomberman. Up to five players confront each other in a battle to the death, involving highly volatile explosives that blow up in a matter of seconds. Run around a maze of destructible and indestructible blocks, clear the way with dynamite, collect bonuses, avoid traps, and defeat everyone else, be it monsters or players, to achieve victory.
A quick Exploder.io game usually doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes, which is perfect, because the levels are pretty small, while the pace of the game is quite fast. By destroying blocks around them to be able to move freely through the maze, the players expose themselves to dozens of ways of getting killed. A monster can attack you, a trap hidden in one of the blocks can take some health away, and, of course, the blast of one of the bombs, including your own, can also get you.
Every Exploder.io battle is unique, intense, and engaging, however, the gameplay itself is not that complicated: all you need to do is control your character by pressing the arrow keys, and drop bombs by pressing the Spacebar. The explosions cover several squares in four directions, and by planting several bombs in different parts of the level, the players can shoot themselves in the foot, and end up hurting themselves, along with everyone else.
It is also possible to play Exploder.io online with your friends. You will need to select the appropriate option in the main menu, and either invite others to your lobby, or join an already existing one. As soon as enough players join, the game will start, and you can blow your pals away with some nasty explosions.
The developers consciously decided to keep Exploder.io free of any additional mechanics by sticking to the formula of its classic predecessors, multiplayer aside. If you are a fan of retro games, and would like to reexperience their charm with your friends or random players, give this one a try!
