Cubefield is an abstract racing simulator taking place in a world consisting solely of primitive objects. The vehicle, if you can call it that, resembles a pyramid or a similar triangle-based structure while the surroundings and obstacles are made out of colored cubes. The player needs to steer left and right with arrow keys and avoid crashing into anything – as soon as that happens the game is over. Because of the relatively short rendering distance it is difficult to tell which way to go until the last moment, which makes for very unpredictable gameplay.
This is one of those games that you play for a bit, make a mistake and start over without feeling too bad about it. There is a score in the top left corner informing you of how well you’ve been doing, and it can be pretty rewarding to finally beat your own long-standing record. If you ever need a short break, just open Cubefield online and enjoy its straightforward gameplay, simple controls and minimalistic graphics.
The controls are so simple, even a toddler would know what to do: just steer left and right to avoid obstacles and press P if you need to pause the game. The course is endless an procedurally generated, so every Cubefield game you play will be unique.
